Indestructible Wet Clutch?

Postby Jeff27 » Mon Aug 02, 2010 8:52 am

Despite being told wet clutches are virtually indestructible, mine started to slip drastically during Friday night's race. After flushing it with kerosene and refilling it on Saturday, the slipping got worse. I took it apart yesterday and found the bolt holding the clutch assembly in place to be loose (see photo)
Could that be the problem?
I've tightened it enough to have the engine start to turn over. Is that tight enough? Should I take apart the assembly? Junk it for a dry clutch?
Any thoughts are greatly appreciated.

Thanks

I have seen that once before. Torque it to 28 ft/lbs with red locktite. The clutch will be fine for future use. If you are looking to sell the engine, call me. 860-767-5012 Trevor
